The Story Behind Screaming Horse Ranch and Animal Rescue

Hello, my name is Christine Sedillo, I am the founder of Screaming Horse Ranch and Animal Rescue. I grew up in a very rural part of the Santa Cruz Mountains on an organic farm, where I helped my parents and siblings work the farm. All of my spare fun time was spent playing with the animals and on horseback with my mom, sister Wendy and friend Kylee. We have always enjoyed all day rides and eventually got into competition endurance riding. When I entered my teen years, I started to notice a large increase in the community's cat population. I started doing odd jobs around the neighborhood to earn money to buy cat traps and then started trapping cats and kittens to get spayed/neutered at a local low-cost clinic. I tamed the kittens and adopted them out and released the adults. After getting the cat population under control I started working on the dog population. In the 23yrs that of spaying cats and dogs I have spayed 1200+ cats and 500+ dogs out of pocket.

 When the local animal shelter called us in February 2023 asking for help with their 2nd large horse seize within weeks of each other, they exhausted all of their rescue resources. We stepped in and took on 10 possibly pregnant mares, that were having the hardest time getting placed due to age and how badly malnourished they were. Thats when I decided it was time to follow my dream of opening a non-profit animal rescue. My sister Wendy and our lifelong friend Kylee didn't hesitate to jump in headfirst with me. We decided to open Screaming Horse Ranch and Animal Rescue where we specialize in equine but accept a wide verity of animals in need. We are a strong group of women that work hard to heal hearts and sooth souls that have been neglected, abused and unwanted. We will always work hard to do what's right by the animals and hope to be a part of ending animal suffering.
